Synod 2007 Convenes

Synod 2007 of the Alaska Moravian Church convened on Monday evening January 22, 2007 at Bethel, Alaska.  Please pray for safety for all the pastors and elders gathered for the four plus day meeting.  Board of World Missions Executive Director, Will Sibert, and representatives from Morongo Indian Reservation and Labador are in attendance at the meetings.

On Monday evening January 22, 2007, Brother Peter Green gave his report on the Alaska Moravian Province, which is included here.

Last years Synod High Lights 2006 is also included.  This should give the Alaska Moravian Church members a summary as to the business of the Church during January 2006.  There has been significant decision-making, which for the individual member of the Moravian Church is important to keep informed about.

Please find an enclosed application that will begin the registration process.  Thank you for taking time to read my letter to the pastors, elders and friends.  My prayer is that you will share my enthusiasm about what it happening at the seminary, and that you will pass this information along to anyone who is wanting to do something of value with his or her life that will be pleasing to them and to their God.

Your Brother in Christ, Reverend Ray Caldwell, Dean/Director

Moravian Seminary Director Letter to Pastors, Elders, and Seminary Friends
A special greeting to each one.  I wish I could be present with you at this moment so that I could share with you the enthusiasm I am experiencing as the Dean of the Seminary.  I would be remiss if I did not tell you how very proud I am of our student body.  They have been working very hard and striving to please God, their instructors and me.  At the close of class last Friday, the students have been exposed to 22 credit hours of teaching starting last September.  They have been absorbing a lot of material in a relatively short period of time.  I think you would be very proud of them too.

2006 Hospital Moravian Chaplain's Report
The Moravian Hospital Chaplaincy is an important and vital work of Alaska Moravian Church in Anchorage, Alaska.  Brother Walter Larson continues weekly to visit patients in the Anchorage area hospitals and assistive living centers.  Without this service, many of the Moravian patients would not be visited as regularily as they currently are.  This ministry cannot happen without the prayerful and financial help of Alaska's 23 Moravian Churches.
