2006 Sunday School Department Report
January 15, 2006
The Sunday School Department of the Anchorage Moravian Church is blessed with several dedicated and creative teachers! We started 2005 with four teachers and with attendance growing, have added an additional teacher to total five.
Sunday School is in progress from September through May.
Current teaching staff and class assignments include:
Preschool/Kindergarten: Carrie Kiana
Elementary Barbara Nicholson
3rd – 4th grade Lucille Hurd
5th – 6th grade Martha Larson
Junior High: Alice Hess
Adult Walter Larson
Catechism will begin the fall of 2006 and will be taught by Pastor Nicholson.
A highlight of the recent Advent Season was the program organized by Alice Hess and presented by the Children’s Sunday School classes and teachers. Several rehearsals were held, as well as input from the teachers. The program included the narration and play of Jesus’s birth, songs and participation of adults as the three wise men.
It is always uplifting when our elementary classes sing during the afternoon church service. In past years there have been 2 or 3 children sing and this year we have heard up to 10 or 12 voices praising God.
The Moravian Sunday School Staff would like to encourage everyone to invite friends, relatives and acquaintances to join us for the study of God’s Word. Please welcome everyone to experience the growth and witnessing taking place in the Anchorage Moravian Sunday School.
