The Rondy Jubilee Event!
We ask our members and friends to invite others to attend this year’s 2008 Jubilee event that is scheduled for February 28 and March 2, 2008. This year’s theme deals with the unity we have in Christ Jesus. Our Church is one which recognizes the unity that we have with all those who are reconciled in Christ Jesus.
The Moravian Church has existed and flourished in southwestern Alaska since 1886 because of the love of Moravian missionaries from the East coast of the United States. Today, we are excited that God is reaching out through our church membership and inspiring us to grow in mission by winning the lost, inviting others to worship regularly, and by reaching out to the Wasilla area in our monthly, every second Saturday, 5:30-6:30 PM Non-denominational Singspirations at Valley Harvest Church.
Alaska's largest city has a flourishing community of over 30,000 native Alaskans, many of whom who do not go to church, are lonely in other churches, and who are looking for a community of faith they will not only feel welcome in, but useful in. The pastor and the Church leadership feel that as we continue to allow the Holy Spirit freedom, grow in mission, and once we have a church facility we will be able to meet more needs.
Regular Moravian worship services are held every Sunday at 3 PM, at the Turnagain United Methodist church (TUMC). Sunday evening singspirations happens at TUMC at 6:30 PM, and another one for patients and their family members at Alaska Native Medical Center, 6:30 PM. These singspirations are led by over 20 lay leaders on a rotation schedule. They are trained to lead the services, offer testimonies, share a brief word from the scriptures, as well as moderating the weekly gathering. Other services include Tuesday and Friday evening Young Believers in Christ, two Wednesday Bible Study and Prayer groups in English and Yupik, Thursday Women's Fellowship Meetings, and Saturday Choir practice. Outreaches to the hospitals, jails and Assistive Living centers around town continues.
Thank you for supporting us by attending the Year 2008 Rondy Jubilee. We also appreciate all the musicians that come freely without compensation to serve the Lord Jesus Christ.
