Thanks to a generous and anonymous contributor donating sufficient dollars for one year, the Joint Boards of the Anchorage Moravian Church approved securing it's first outside of the home office on February 05, 2006. The new 400 square foot Church office is located in the Turnagain Arts Building on 4105 Turnagain Blvd, Anchorage, Alaska. It is located just a city block, due north, and nestled between Gwenny’s Restaurant and McDonalds on Turnagain Blvd in the Spenard area east of Ted Stevens International Airport This Moravian pastor’s office is about 1 mile away from Turnagain United Methodist Church.
We thank Mike Franks, Trustee for negotiating a very economical lease. Also appreciation for Paul Kiunya who obtained donated filing cabinets, chairs, and it looks like we may have professional office furniture donated and installed soon. We thank, George David for setting the stage for installing shelving and desks. John W. Nicholson and Earl Nicholson, thank you for helping your dad move in the new office on February 8, 2006.
Phone lines will not be active until about February 15, 2006. The internet was activated on February 14, 2006. Pastor Nicholson's new office email is pastor@alaskamoravian.org. The office phone number is 907-646-7630 with fax line # 907-646-7631. The "snail mail" address is: Anchorage Moravian Church, 4105 Turnagain Blvd, Suite 217, Anchorage, Alaska 99517.
Church Office hours are Monday – Thursday (9:00 - 5:00 PM); Sunday (9:00-12:00) noon. The Pastor says, "Drop by anytime"! However, just to make certain Pastor Nicholson is there, since he is performing visitation, hospital visits, etc, contact him by phone in advance.
Uses of Church Office for Board meetings and the Men’s Group begins immediately according to the Church Trustees. Since the office is what it is, "an office", use by the church will be restricted to general pastoral use, board meetings and men's Group on Thursday nights at 7-8 PM. Reason for non-use by other church groups is because of the professional uses of the Turnagain Music & Arts building. Having unsupervised children around is not compatible with uses of the building nor lease of the office space. If someone has a question about this, please contact Pastor Nicholson at 646-4630, anytime.
One significant thing on usage. There is a possibility of scheduling special events that must be approved beforehand in a brightly lighted 60-seat recital area adjoining the office with piano. The piano has a use fee attached. Scheduling must be with MS Peggy Manahan at the Turnagain Arts building.
All-in-all having an office is a special blessing which the Moravian Church leadership is thankful for! God's richest blessings upon the anonymous family that donated dollars for use of a beautifully contained and located office, one mile away from Turnagain United Methodist Church where we hold our Sunday and weekly worship services.
