Allowing
God's Spirit and His Word to touch many lives for Christ
among Alaska's Native people.
The love of music and the many musical talents of its members is a blessing
not easily forgotten.
If
the Holy Spirit is tugging at your heart to worship, come and
experience it with us. You
will hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ in Yup'ik Eskimo,
Inupiat and English at our services!
There are several church volunteers who are now prayer warriors. They can be called upon during a crisis, especially for our church membership. The co-leaders for the Moravian Church prayer intercessors group are Ledia Scott and Ina Carpenter. Ledia is reachable at (907) 727-6927. Ina Carpenter can be called at (907) 274-3219. If you would like to minister as a prayer warrior and want to be placed on this "warriors" listing, please email Pastor Nicholson at pastor@alaskamoravian.org or call him at the office.

Another big concern to pray for are those that are suffering pain and depression which is causing a high suicide rate in our villages.
Suicide in our villages as well as in Anchorage, Alaska is a major problem. Most everyone has had suicidal thoughts at some time in their lives.Thankfully most people do not hurt themselves, but take steps to understand their pain, seek help from others, and deal with their personal problems. The person who is considering suicide is struggling with a number of personal problems that seem insurmountable; in other words they do not see an immediate solution. Most people who are suicidal truly do not want to die; they simply want their emotional distress to go away, and feel unable to resolve their dilemma.
Suicides can be prevented.Over 80% of suicidal people give clues about their intentions and despair to people around them. These clues are really invitations for help:
-suicide threats or attempts.
-statements, writings or artwork revealing a desire to die.
-behavioral changes signaling depression; ie. changes in sleeping and eating patterns. Changes in performance.
Changes in appearance. Social withdrawal. Increased
drug/alcohol usage. Apathy and loss of interest.Changes
in mood and attitude.
-making final arrangements
-giving away prized possessions
-preoccupation with death.
At this time, we would suggest that you begin praying for your loved one.Pray that God will intervene. You may consider calling
Pastor Nicholson who is a trained suicide intervention specialist from Living Works Education Inc., and past U.S. Army presenter.
Important is arranging for a visit, so that the suicidal per-
son can air their feelings.Airing their deep most feelings
is critical at this time.
As we Pray for the needs above may we keep in mind a big goal that we have set for the next two months. This is raising $50,000 for the new church building fund from September 7, 2008 - November 16, 2008. It is our vision is to establish a Moravian Church in Anchorage, Alaska. It is our heartfelt prayer that God's Spirit will touch other folks to donate dollars for the building fund.We hope and pray that as believers you will dig deep and help as much as you can; together we can do it.The Holy Spirit continues to work in a new way.As the Holy Spirit directs we feel even more confident that a special anointed work will come to pass with your loving help.We feel even stronger today that the Anchorage Moravian Church has been chosen to continue Christ's much needed work among the Native community living in Alaska's largest community.
We welcome you and your family to attend our regular worship services.Together may we all catch "a vision" to do God's work before Christ comes again!
