The Bishop is a proven spiritual leader who advocates for God’s mercy and shows willingness to right wrongs in society and is willing to deal with conflict in the church. As a pastor of pastor’s he must have the gift of discernment, counseling skills and the ability to communicate effectively.
Bishop-elect Nicholson feels that the Office of Bishop is bigger than any one man to fulfill and only by the grace of God can he help lead the church. He feels that when he is consecrated in spring or fall 2008, he will strive to help the Alaska Moravian Church further its call to more meaningful and productive ministry. He wants his office always to be open and on behalf of the Lordship of Christ to challenge the Seminary, APB, Synod, individual churches, and members of the Alaska Province to grow and mature more fully in mission and service.
Bishop-elect Nicholson will continue as pastor of the Anchorage Moravian Church, since the Bishop has an option of continuing in full-time ministry in the local Church. Now that he has recently stepped down from part-time ministry as Brigade Chaplain for Alaska Army National Guard 207th Infantry, he feels that although he must travel to fulfill the episcopacy, any adverse impacts on the ministry in Anchorage is to be minimal. Anchorage Moravian Church has among the strongest elders and lay ministry teams in Alaska so they can fill in when needed.
While Pastor NIcholson now begins his intercession as a Bishop-elect for the Moravian Unity, he also prays for the AMC, AncMC and also appreciates your prayers.
