Out of this ongoing discussion it was agreed that, first, a Christian Native Gathering with a revival emphasis “preparing hearts and preparing the worker” be held in November 2007. This focus should help native believers to celebrate and agree to work together to glorify our Lord and Savior. Our objective is to encourage Christians to commit their lives to the Lord Jesus. A future goal is that somehow God will use the churches to better reach people who do not attend church regularly. Also as we bond together in Christ we may be able to pray and plan for addressing the ongoing plight of Alaska Natives in South Central Alaska. Too many people are literally suffering despondency, addictions, abuse, suicide, guilt, unforgiveness, and meaninglessness. Together we can show them “our blessed hope”. Through a strong and unified witness we can show our people that “Jesus Christ is Our Hope for Today”.
During this Christian Native Gathering may we recognize that God is doing a new thing among the Native Churches and Native Ministries in Anchorage, Alaska. Is the Holy Spirit bringing a unified and stronger Native Christian witness to the people of south central Alaska?
Evangelist Dr. Roger Holmberg, along with participating pastors in the city of Anchorage feel strongly that as we test the air and begin working together, God will bless not only our churches, our ministries, but importantly bring encouragement to believers, so that we may be better empowered as churches and individuals to intentionally reach the lost.
